Terms of Employment:

  • *This position requires working nights, weekends, and holidays*
  • Applicant may not hold a coaching or other supplemental position at the same time.
  • This position is full-time, 10 months.

 

Reports to: Athletic Director

 

 

Job Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Director will assist the Athletic Director in planning, organizing and directing the high and middle schools’ interscholastic athletics program.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

 

  1. Assist in the collection of grades, attendance, and discipline to check on eligibility for student athletes.
  2. Assist in scheduling for high school and middle school sports.
  3. Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising the scheduling of all athletic events, officials, game preparations and other matters concerned with the efficient management of interscholastic sports.
  4. Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising the ordering, maintaining, storage, and inventory of equipment, uniforms and supplies for all athletic programs.
  5. Assist with the development and management of athletic budget and expenditures.
  6. Assist with the preparation of annual bids, financial reports, purchase orders, and process bills for payment.
  7. Assist with the facilitation of the recruitment process for coaches, officials, and all other athletic related personnel.
  8. Assist with the hiring security coverage for events that require it.
  9. Assist with training for coaches which includes updating the coaches’ handbook.
  10. Assist with insuring that athletic fields or gyms are ready for contests making sure items such as: scoreboard control is set up, P.A. system is set up, fields are mowed and lined, etc.
  11. Attend as many athletic events as possible.
  12. Work with the local community athletic clubs or associations to encourage the development of community feeder programs.
  13. When directed by supervisor, attend athletic booster clubs meetings and works cooperatively with the organizations.
  14. Assist in reviewing and approving all fund raising activities by athletic teams or for athletic teams. Assist with the coordination with the different organizations regarding the operation of the concession stand(s).
  15. Assist with the supervision and coordination of athletic award events.
  16. Working with bus transportation team to schedule transportation.
  17. Assist with the coordination of all athletic training needs including sports physicals, supplies, and game day services
  18. Train on and utilize the following systems related to Athletics: PowerSchool, Arbiter Pay, Hometown Ticketing, A Better Way, and Thrillshare
  19. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer technology and be able to operate a variety of office equipment including a telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all administrators and the management team, parents, students, professional staff and the community.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
    all administrators, the Board of School Directors, parents, students, professional staff, support staff and the community

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in sports administration or education.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work related experience as a head coach or assistant athletic director.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to reach above and below the waist
  • Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
  • Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
  • Considerable bending and twisting of the body required
  • Some stooping and squatting required
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time during the workday
  • Visual acuity
  • Auditory acuity

 

 

Level of Compensation: This position is under the Southeast Delco Education Association agreement. The salary ranges from $54,000 to $104,000 and is dependent on Step and Track placement as determined based on the collective bargaining agreement.
