UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE
- Collaborate with the Finance team to document and ensure adherence to internal controls, actively participating in implementing updated policies and procedures under the guidance of the Controller.
- Prepare equity journal entries, reviewing various financial components such as payroll, prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, general ledger journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Conduct thorough research and successfully resolve any discrepancies found during account reconciliations.
- Work closely with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely year-end closing and reporting.
- Play a key role in preparing monthly financial statements and diligently reviewing audit schedules for the year-end audit.
- Efficiently coordinate the filing of 1099s.
- Assist in ensuring the accuracy of all monthly payroll journal entries. Analyze and provide monthly explanations of variances.
- Analyze Comparative Balance Sheet and P&L reports, identifying variances, investigating root causes, and recommending adjustments.
- Conducted assessments of existing practices and procedures, proactively suggesting areas for improvement.
- Assists Travel & Expense Analyst with corporate credit card expense categorization to ensure accuracy & timely reporting.
- Participate in special projects related to financial reporting and other relevant initiatives.
- Demonstrate leadership by leading or assisting in completing the month-end close process.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments including HR, Payroll, and Travel & Expense.
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting.
- 2-4 years of experience in a similar position.
- Previous experience of 2 to 3 years in public accounting would be viewed as advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to uphold strict confidentiality regarding client, company, and personnel information.
- Profound knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Possesses an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the United States.
- Knowledge of profit-sharing models and Employee Stock Ownership plans.
- Exceptional organizational skills and adeptness in managing multiple tasks concurrently.
- Capable of working independently while also being receptive to guidance when necessary.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with intermediate to advanced skills, including expertise in V-Lookups, Formulas, index/match, Pivot Tables, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, displaying the ability to tailor messages appropriately for different audiences.
- Exposure to NetSuite would be considered a valuable additional qualification.
SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - $115,000
