Technology -Part Time Technology Support Specialist Intern Blue Springs School District 2025-2026 School Year Position Summary: The job of Intern Technology Support Specialist is for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for supporting technology needs to enhance the learning environment, providing technical support to staff and providing technical support for both virtual and in-person students.
- This job reports to the Director of Technology.
- This is a part time internship (19.75 hours per week) non-benefits eligible position.
- This is an hourly job at $16.50 per hour.
Essential Functions: - Assist virtual students with technology needs by returning messages left by students or parents on the district help line regarding technology issues on both Microsoft devices and Apple iPads.
- Assist in-person students and staff with issues related to their student or staff device.
- Installs computer hardware, peripherals, and application software for the purpose of maintaining and updating overall site operations (classrooms, library, theaters, computer labs, etc.).
- Maintains electronic documents, files, and records (e.g., preventive maintenance, inspections, repair logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, conveying information, device exchanges, and/or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
- Maintain inventory, manage student device repairs, and work with appropriate building staff concerning student device fees or obligations.
- Repairs computers, peripherals, and electronic equipment (e.g., television systems, projectors, video cameras/recorders, electronic controllers, theater systems, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in a safe and functional operating condition.
- Responds to a variety of questions from site staff, parents, and students for the purpose of providing information, guidance, or referral.
- Utilizes a work ticketing system for the purpose of receiving work orders from staff, for communicating progress at task completion, and closing tickets.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; and performing basic bookkeeping and record keeping.
Knowledge is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; basic bookkeeping principles; business telephone etiquette; and common office machines.
Ability is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with stakeholders; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.

Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 75% sitting, 10% walking, and 15% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
