Job Description:Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities like solar PV and batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our solar PV and battery operations further.
The Business Unit Solar & Batteries (BU SoBa) is part of Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind, responsible for all large-scale solar PV and battery storage development across Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK. BU SoBa operates along the full value chain – from early-stage development and financing to construction and operations – with the clear ambition to grow a profitable and scalable solar & storage portfolio as a cornerstone of a future-proof energy system.
The Development and Construction department plays a pivotal role within Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind by overseeing the finalisation of the business case and construction of renewable energy projects, namely solar PV and battery storage initiatives including typically high voltage substations. By managing projects from early development through to operations, our team ensures the successful execution of Vattenfall’s renewable energy strategy.
Your responsibilities:
- Review design drawings and subcontractor scope documents.
- Assist with site preparation.
- Supervise subcontractors and their site supervisors to ensure project requirements are met.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with HSE regulations and the construction phase plan.
- Verify quality and quantity of deliveries according to contracts.
- Perform and digitally document quality control inspections.
- Update contractor punch lists with issues found.
- Maintain a daily site diary.
- Act as site manager and HSE lead on site in case of absence of the site manager.
- Collect data and photos for project reporting.
- Support during the warranty period.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by site or project managers.
- Use office tools and equipment proficiently.
Location
Office: Hamburg or Berlin. The work shall be performed mainly from the construction sites.
Qualifications:Your profile:
- Experience: minimum 1 year in the construction of renewable energy projects, with a preference for photovoltaic or battery projects
- Academic: min. A-levels (Abitur) in electrical/civil or subsequent specialization in electrical/civil installation
- Skills in reading construction plans, drawings, and blueprints.
- Self motivation and ability to work in a team
- Certificates related to Germany (please provide proof):
- SCC-Schulung für operativ tätige Führungskräfte or equivalent
- First aid certification
- User knowledge of all Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word)
- Language: Good knowledge of German (or commitment to learn) and English
- Valid driver's license
- Presence required on construction sites
- No criminal record
