We are seeking a positive, compassionate, customer service-focused team member for the Resident Engagement Coordinator-Recreational Therapist or COTA. Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Executive Director and Administrator, coordinates resident engagement activities for residents. Serves as liaison for families. Serves as volunteer coordinator for the designated community.

Qualifications:

1. Education: An associate’s degree required.

2. Certifications/Licenses:Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Recreational therapist required.

3. Training and Experience:Experience working with elderly. Familiar with regulatory requirements

4. Employment Variables: Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance for business travel.

Essential Job Functions:

· Plans, organize and schedules programs that have an emphasis on wellness and engagement for residents with feedback from the residents including but not limited to the Resident Council.

· Plan and organize engagement activities that focus on 5 elements- Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Spiritual and Social

· Oversees Activity and engagement programs in Long Term Care

· Welcoming and communicating with families about progress throughout stay.

· Engage and encourage residents to participate in engagement activities throughout the buildings as needed daily via calendars, postings, and personal invitations.

· Completes resident service and care plans with interdisciplinary team.

· Completes appropriate MDS sections.

· Coordinate and assist Case Manager with discharges.

· Attend and participate in care conferences and staff meetings.

· Follow up with family 72-96 hours after discharge.

· Hire and train staff and volunteers as needed.

· Evaluates the effectiveness of the resident engagement activities in consultation with the Campus Leadership, Resident Council, and other key team members.

· Works as a team member with resident services staff, volunteers, students and other department staff.

· Plans and organizes events monthly and works closely with Food Service and other departments to create joy and meaningful moments for residents, their family members, and staff.

· Maximizes community partnerships with nearby agencies, neighbors, churches, volunteer groups to maximize the overall well-being and self-value of the Kendall House residents.

· Must operate the Resident engagement program with fiscal responsibility, seeking to always operate within the budget parameters unless approved by management.

· Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.
