Dental Assistant
Description

The Dental Assistant is responsible for coordinating both front and back office duties including: greeting patients, registering patients, and providing information regarding dental services and how to qualify for them, preparing treatment room and patients for treatment, collecting data for reports and other duties assigned. The Dental Assistant will make a lasting change in the lives of underserved patients in our community, while growing their career. They will report to the Dental Center Coordinator.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Position Responsibilities

  • Preparing patients for treatment and assisting the dentist and hygienist during procedures
  • Sterilizing and setting up instruments and materials
  • Providing patients with oral health instructions and postoperative care guidance
  • Exposing dental diagnostic radiographs
  • Recording treatment information in patient records
  • Assisting in medical and dental emergencies
  • Monitoring and managing dental supply inventory
  • Training and supervising volunteer dental assistants
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations
  • Cross-training to support administrative tasks such as scheduling and recordkeeping
  • Obtains and appropriately files/shares completed patient paperwork and information.
  • Contributes to a team environment of meeting program goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Dental Assistant Certification or minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Radiology and safety certification
  • Passionate for compassionate , patient-centered care
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged period of sitting and or standing assisting the doctors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.

Salary Description
$23 / hour
