Trueline is seeking a Structural Steel Detail Manager in Oakdale, CA, to join their production team. This is a fulltime, in office role where you’ll oversee external detailing teams, ensure fabrication and erection drawings meet quality and standard, and help streamline shop production and coordination.
Must Haves as the Structural Steel Detail Manager:
- Minimum 5 years managing external or third party structural steel detailing teams
- At least 5 years of experience in the structural steel industry, with strong understanding of fabrication and erection processes
- Deep knowledge of AISC standards and AWS welding/connection codes
- Proficiency reading/interpreting structural and architectural drawings and specifications
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to run multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
What You’ll Do as the Structural Steel Detail Manager:
- Review design/contract drawings and set direction for fabrication preferences and detailing standards
- Manage and supervise third party/detailing vendors to ensure company quality standards are enforced
- Oversee and update project tracking logs: detailing schedule, project drawing log, and shop drawing release timelines
- Review shop/fabrication, erection, and architectural drawings for accuracy, presentation, and consistency with design intent
- Coordinate BIM or detailing software setup (e.g. Tekla, AutoCAD) and ensure correct templates and part marks are used
- Troubleshoot import files (NC, DXF, KSS) with programmers and administrators to prevent errors
- Ensure all required items are included in shop and erection drawings; ensure feedback and approval comments incorporated before production release
- Monitor drawing/modeling standards, continuously improving procedures to enhance shop output and quality
Nice to Haves as the Structural Steel Detail Manager:
- Experience with Tekla in a lead role (preferred)
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or other marking/review/redlining software
- Prior experience with BIM coordination
