As a Data Engineer with strong expertise in SQL Server, C# and ETL Applications, you will play a critical role supporting our current data integration workflows and help build our future data strategy. This is a unique role as it is not strictly focused on only typical Data Engineering work--you'll be part of a team that drives proactive architectural decisions, lead database optimization efforts, and partner with Analytics, Web and, Application teams to standardize and scale how we manage and govern data. You will tap into your expertise to help guide long-term data architecture, governance, and compliance best practice.
How you’ll make an impact:
Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
SQL Development
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
- Design and maintain SQL Server objects to ensure data quality and performance.
- Design efficient and scalable databases, including indexing, normalization, and data modeling.
- Work on cloud based database development and optimization.
- Develop and optimize databases in both on-premise and cloud environment.
C# for Automation & Integration
- Build and maintain C# applications to automate ETL workflows and handle API integrations.
- Apply best practices in software development to ensure maintainability and efficiency.
ETL Development
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Ensure efficient, scalable, and reliable data movement between systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SSIS workflow and performance issues.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to meet data needs.
- Document ETL processes and system architecture for transparency and maintainability.
- Follow best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
Source Control & CI/CD
- Use Git or Azure DevOps for version control.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.

- Experience working with data from platforms such as Marketo, Salesforce, or other CRM/marketing automation tools.
- Familiarity with event management data.
- Assist in migrating on-prem SQL Server databases to SQL Azure.
Knowledge & Skills: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred, 2-5 years of data experience.
- 2-5 years of hands-on database administration experience across SQL Server, or equivalent platforms
- Strong background in performance tuning, capacity planning, and query optimization
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with data, BI, and application engineering teams
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Abilities: Self-starter, innovator, and ability to dig into complex problems. A strong natural desire for continuous improvement and willingness to stretch yourself, accept challenges and seek workable solutions.

Work Environment: Diversified Communications offers the flexibility to work remotely or enjoy a hybrid schedule, working in the office 2 days per week at our Portland, Maine office. ***WE ARE UNABLE TO SPONSOR A WORK VISA. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
