Process Engineer Supervisor-  2nd Shift - Engineering Degree Required

Location- New Century, KS

12 hour shift rotations w/ supervisory coverage for 2nd shift

The 2nd shift Process Engineer/ Supervisor will be responsible for delivering Key Performance Indicators with a focus on increasing department efficiency while providing nightly oversight of Processing operations for the ScMM and Conventional Factories.

 

Core Skills:

·      Safety.  Knowledge and understanding of national Safety and Environmental legislation and company policy, systems, and practice relevant to Sourcing Unit and the legal responsibility placed upon individuals. Must actively contribute to the safe working environment, to include full engagement in the Behaviour Based Safety Program.

·      Environment.  Reduce costs due to waste and minimise impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials. Must actively contribute to an eco-efficient environment.

·      Leadership.  Encourage the development of a highly effective team through the establishment of a positive team climate supported by authentic leadership and clear communication.  Be pro-active and strive to develop the best practices and action plans to deal with work demands.

·      Facilitation and Coaching.  An ability to facilitate and coach team members to support team performance and increase knowledge of policies, procedures and ways of working.

·      Decision Making. An ability to make decisions leveraging experience and knowledge of internal policies and practices to effectively and efficiently administer key programs and complex operational issues.

·      Problem Solving. An ability to identify, prioritise and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence.

·      Quality.  Knowledge of product quality and food safety procedures. 

·      Management.  Able to coordinate business resources and apply risk management processes.  Keen sense of prioritisation and ability to influence change.  Resolve conflicts where identified.

·      Administration.  Timely and accurate management of day to day processing and batch schedules.

·      Business Awareness.  Understand the business needs for change and innovation.

·      Foster Positive Employee Relations.  Including properly interpreting and administering the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Operational Responsibilities:

·       Ability to work an assigned off shift, and to change shifts per business needs.

·       Monitor Siemens and Cobra Process Control System; troubleshoot software and hardware issues

·       Create documentation and log issues as necessary

·       Trend process and waste data to understand and reduce variability

·       Work closely with Processing team and be available or on-call as needed

·       Keep current on technological advances and upgrades

·       Assist in facilitating strong shift sanitation and cleaning habits.

·       Champion ideas and suggestions to simplify and improve work processes

·       Proactively communicate with departments to anticipate and solve problems regarding process flow

·       Manage HACCP documentation and relevant QA/QC procedures

·       Understand product attributes and effects of processing parameters

·       Provide regular status updates for current and ongoing projects.

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

·      Education.  4-year Engineering or Science Degree.

·      2 years or more experience working as a Process Engineer and 2 years’ experience working as a Process Supervisor.

 

Experience Required:

ESSENTIAL:

·      Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·      Demonstrate expertise and in-depth technical knowledge of Plant Operations and experience using control panels, computer terminals or other control systems (preferably Siemens PCS7 and Cobra)

·      Understand complex technical operating environment, coordinating of daily objectives and setting priorities to achieve daily production plan.

·      Exhibit competency in Microsoft Office and the use of at least one industry standard Enterprise Resource Planning tool (preferably SAP)

·      Strong organizational skills, ability to manage conflicting priorities and deliver on aggressive timelines in operations environment

·      Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence others.

·      Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to build collaborative relationships and networks with multiple and diverse stakeholders, internal and external partners.

·      Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

·      Ability to drive change and innovation by gathering knowledge and resources to ensure tasks are completed within timelines to a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.

·      Ability to understand and influence teams to adapt to new ways of working
