SUMMARY
The Truck Spotter is responsible for safely moving trailers within the facility’s yard, staging trailers for loading and unloading, and supporting efficient dock operations. This role ensures that the flow of inbound and outbound trailers aligns with production and shipping schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow all associated procedures (including FIFO procedures).
- Operate yard truck to move trailers to and from dock.
- Record trailer and seal numbers on all trucks and trailers after they are loaded.
- Provide the supervisor with a list of all seal numbers at the end of the day.
- Report all accidents immediately to the supervisor.
- Fuel all tractors and trailers as needed to maintain temperatures that are filled with product.
- Complete accident reports for insurance carriers.
- Monitor company-issued radio at all times during shift; return the radio to a battery charger at the end of each day.
- Responsible for recording hub mileage, fuel levels, temperature checks, and fuel pump readings.
- Monitor and adjust refrigerated trailer temperature settings per specific load requirements.
- Responsible for general housekeeping to ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Minimum 4 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment as a maintenance technician or mechanic.
- Working knowledge or mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of food safety and regulatory compliance standards preferred.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required, depending on state/facility requirements).
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating yard trucks, hostlers, or similar equipment.
- The ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and back trailers into tight dock spaces.
