The Role
As the construction coordinator you will be responsible for interfacing between the project engineering group and the construction group on facility-based projects in an active chemical manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities
- Meet or exceed the company and customer safety standards and follow all site safety policies and procedures
- Assist Project Manager/Engineer with planning and execution of construction schedule Communicate with Client on progress and schedule. Attend construction / turnaround update meetings
- Maintain constant communication with field supervision and project manager to discuss work to be completed throughout the project and ensure the project is on schedule and provide input to Cost group on forecast expenditures (as required)
- Interface with Main Automation Contractor as required to support FAT and SAT and final checkout
- Review and comment on I/E subcontract issues that may have a detrimental impact on construction
- Review and comment on the project specifications and requirements
- Assist with constructability reviews during the design stage, when available (Dependent on experience level of resource)
- Involvement in bid evaluation of I&E bids for a field construction project
- Review field I&E work for compliance with all applicable codes, specifications, and requirements
- Review the quantity of the work performed by a I&E subcontractor
- Review and resolve issues presented by an I&E subcontractor
- Maintain marked up drawings
- Assist with material receiving and issuing of I&E materials to an I&E subcontractor
- Involvement in system completion as required for loop check
- Review change orders from an I&E subcontractor and presenting them to the Project Manager/ Project Engineer or Field Cost/Schedule Controller with a recommendation
- Actively participate in a strong safety culture. Be able to identify project risks and provide mitigations

Expected:
- 10+ years industrial experience working in the chemical manufacturing industry
- AAS Degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Eight years or more of general petrochemical turnaround / construction experience or equivalent work experience
- Four or more years’ experience managing Instrumentation and Electrical work on a construction project or equivalent work experience
- Familiarity with Instrumentation and Electrical Systems including
- Medium and low voltage electrical systems (transformers, disconnects, starters, High Resistance Grounding systems, and low and medium voltage terminations) and the application of installation standards
- Fiber-optic conduit system requirements, patch panels and terminations
- Electronic and pneumatic field instrumentation and the application of installation standards
- Heat tracing systems
- Engineering standards such as PIP, Equity, or ChemGems for instrument, electrical and analyzer installations
- Possess a basic understanding of construction disciplines outside of instrumentation and electrical
- Experience with a formal QA/QC program and commissioning standards and practices
- Effective leadership skills
- Outdoor work experience, able to wear required PPE and drive safely to jobsite, and to walk and climb at the job-site as needed to oversee the construction site work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Desirable
- Knowledge of SAP a plus
