SUMMARY
Perform, direct, and coordinate activities involved in the design, analysis, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of facilities and facility systems to support military and commercial jet engine testing. Ensure effective communication and job flow to supporting departments throughout the enterprise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, plan, and oversee construction, modification, and maintenance of various jet engine testing related activities, including buildings and outbuilding, foundations, building facilities and subsystems (including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, sewer, grounding, lightning protection, etc.), and site layouts.
Review customer statement of work (SOW) documents, customer specifications, industry standards, and manuals to ensure all requirements are met or exceeded for projects involving new product design, hardware modification, and engineering analyses.
Create conceptual designs and layouts for facilities, infrastructure, and supporting systems.
Design structural systems which may be part of test equipment, mechanical systems, buildings, and foundations, including environmental consideration, based on customer, local, municipal, and government specifications, requirements, and guidelines.
Prepare or direct preparation of facilities, systems, foundations, and site supporting layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, test plans, and statements of work.
Perform engineering analysis of facilities, systems, and supports using industry accepted practices and software, classical hand calculations, and other methods.
Stay current on engineering software capabilities and techniques, as well as physical testing methods and documentation. Provide engineering training to engineering personnel on software and engineering topics. Identify new engineering materials and methods, and implement them into designs.
Coordinate maintenance and repair activities.
Evaluate and oversee field installations and recommend design modifications to reduce or eliminate structural or system malfunctions and failures, as well as improve overall site use and performance. May act as field supervisor and quality representative during field activities.
Work with Drafting and Technical Publications group to create and revise technical documentation, including drawings, layouts, technical orders, manuals, test plans, statements of work, site surveys, and other documentation as required.
Assist in developing quotes and technical orders, including conducting site surveys, feasibility studies, and vendor interaction, recommending best engineering solutions to meet project requirements.
Work with Project Managers to create project plans, specification, and estimates, and stay within budget and on schedule. Regular reporting to stakeholders required.
Work with architects, planners, contractors, and customers, providing technical guidance.
Identify issues with designs or construction and develop effective solutions. Will be involved in creation of action plans, budgets, details, and presentations, and, present to internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee construction projects from start to finish, managing budgets, schedules, and resources. Monitor construction progress and quality, conducting inspections as required to ensure compliance to standards and overall project quality. Generate reports detailing activities, impacts, issues.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project staff, mentoring professional development and continuous improvement.
Create and present concepts, analysis, layouts, financial and time budgets, scope, and risk assessment to internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis. Prepare for and participate in PDR, CDR, and FDR meetings, as well as TIM’s, as required.
Work with internal and corporate engineering organizations to accomplish tasks as required.
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES
Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.
Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate (including Strategic Planning, AIM, Suggestion box, etc.).
Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
Cooperate with Auditors.
Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering from four-year college or university; one (1) to four (4) or more years related experience and / or training; or combination of education and experience.
Experience using 3-D Solid Modeling software (SolidWorks), 2-D CAD software (AutoCAD, DraftSight), Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office products, and Smartsheet.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Passed or preparing for EIT exam preferred.
Solidworks certification encouraged.
Trade licenses and/or registrations as achieved and applicable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit and use hands with mechanical and electrical equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, low and high-voltage systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel systems, HVAC systems, machine tools, fabrication environments, extreme environmental conditions.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Extended work hours and/or travel may occasionally be required.
