Dishwasher 

SUMMARY 

The Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning all service ware, glassware, food production pans, sanitizing, scrubbing, moping, sweeping, and wiping all of kitchen, bars, and service stations areas within the Food and Beverage areas. 

 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes by hand or place them in racks or on conveyor to dishwasher machine. 
  • Washes pots, pans, and trays. 
  • Sweeps and mops, kitchen floors. 
  • Washes and sanitizes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and racks. 
  • Segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designed containers. 
  • Ensuring the availability of clean dishes, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware. 
  • Supporting other kitchen staff by assisting with other tasks, as needed. 
  • Reporting kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures. 
  • Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans. 
  • Maintains a positive restaurant culture. 
  • Follows company safety and security policies and procedures. Reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions. 
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas. 
  • Cleans and organizes Banquet items for set-up such as chaffers, plates, and utensils. 
  • Assists with receiving and storage of food shipment. 
  • Maintains standards of sanitation, kitchen and personal hygiene and cleanliness, as well as food service techniques and safety all with regards to the safe handling of food products for guests’ consumption. 
  • Assists with inventory of tableware, flatware, glassware, equipment, etc. Comply with all property and department policies, practices, and procedures. Contribute to a safe work environment through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution. Maintain a professional department, company, and community reputation. 
  • Maintain safe and proper food storage and rotation. 
  • Knowledge of dishwasher operation and chemicals used in cleaning and maintenance of equipment and areas of purview. 
  • Takes responsibility to know, understand and comply with established company and departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Maintains constant awareness of services, promotions, and events offered by Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel. 
  • Cooperates and communicates with fellow Team Members in all departments and always strives for mutual respect. 
  • Performs related duties as assigned. 
  • Must comply, complete, and maintain all assigned online training programs before the due date.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be a hard worker. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals. 
  • Hospitality experience. 
  • Experience cleaning kitchens. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, Casino Hotel events, and holidays. 
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills and being able to be organized. 
  • Minimal work experience. 
  • Exceptional time management skills. 
  • Ability to stand or walk for 8-hour shifts. 
  • Attention to detail and sanitation rules. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed. 
  • Ability to remain alert and focused on an environment that is noisy and fast paced. 
  • Ability to work effectively with kitchen staff. 

 



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

(G4/S1-3 DOE) 

  • No High School diploma or GED. 
  • No experience needed. 

(G5/S1-3 DOE) 

  • High School diploma or GED required; 
  • Six (6) months required; 
  • or less work experience as a dishwasher or in a similar role.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

 



REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply commonsense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables. Must be able to communicate effectively in person, while on the phone, while using intercom/microphone, and in writing. 

 



CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, AND REGISTRATIONS 

  • Must be able to submit supporting documents of education and training (High School Diploma, GED, Degree, and Certificates). if applicable. 
  • Must be able to pass a complete background investigation. 
  • Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening. 
  • Must be able to obtain Food Handlers certification within 90-days of employment. 
  • No driver’s license is required but preferred.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes, tobacco smoke, or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. This position is held to a high degree of confidentiality and will adhere to P.L. 93-579522 (a) and the Policy and Procedures of the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel.
