Purpose of Position:

Provide a safe, comfortable place for patients who are awaiting delivery or other hospital services by maintaining a healthy environment.  

 

Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values.  Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

 

Essential Functions:

Check in and out, patients who have been authorized to stay at the hostel, working closely with travel clerks, and assisting guests with transportation needs. Assist with the assignment of guest rooms based on facility capacity.

 

Clean guest rooms according to the procedures outlined - disinfecting, dusting, and changing bedding. Follow infection control procedures. 

 

Wash, dry, fold and put away linens.

 

Assist with the purchasing of groceries and meal preparation for maternity patients and help with the distribution of meals for other guests. Follow all food safety standards.

 

Provide guest services, to include: providing snacks, extra linens, movie rentals, etc. 

 

Arrange guest services such as movie activities or guest outings. Assist with the purchasing of guest groceries, and prepare foods as needed for guest activities. 

 

Assist with developing guest education and resource materials for healthy choices.

 

Assist guests with transportation needs.

 

Document patient interactions as needed.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

 

PHA I (Grade 2)

High School Diploma or GED

18 years of age

AK Food Workers Card within two weeks of hire

BLS within 3 months of hire

 

PHA II (Grade 3)

Meets all the requirements of PHA I

1 year of housekeeping or customer service experience

Pass attendant competencies 

 

PHA III (Grade 4)

Meets all the Requirements of a PHA II

At least 2 total years of housekeeping or customer service experience

1 year must be as a PHA II

Certificate on Non-Acute Care Cleaning

25+ hours in Hospitality Front Desk skills training

AK Drivers License

 

Physical Requirements:

∙Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment

∙Sit less than half the workday

∙Stand and/or walk more than half the workday

∙Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach

∙Use hands and arms for repetitive motion tasks consistently for more than one hour at a time

∙Lift or carry unaided up to 50 pounds

∙Push or pull using up to moderate force

∙See and hear with normal acuity

 

Working Conditions:

∙Work is conducted in a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazard or other harmful substances

∙Minimal travel is required (less than 25% of the time)
