Alberta Health Services invites applicants from clinical sub-specialists in Urogynecology to join the Department of Women’s Health in the Edmonton Zone.

 

The successful candidate will join the current group of seven Urogynecologists and our multi-disciplinary team at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. 

 

The Lois Hole Hospital for Women is dedicated to strengthening women’s health services, enhancing teaching, innovation and research.  It is responsible for tertiary level women’s health care services with both general obstetricians gynecologists and  sub-specialty gynecology, who perform more than 6,500 deliveries and over 3,500 gynecologic surgeries per year.  Working primarily at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, the successful candidate will deliver ambulatory care, inpatient care and perform urogynecology surgeries.

 

As the tertiary centre for urogynecology, Edmonton has a large diverse population that require services and support.  Advanced minimally invasive surgical skills, both laparascopic and vaginal, are considered essential, as is an ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.  The candidate would be expected to be involved with postgraduate and undergraduate medical education and have an interest in clinical or basic research. 

 

The Royal Alexandra Hospital is also home to the clinical teaching program for the academic Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta.  The Urogynecology Division provides clinical education for multiple learners including a Urogynecology sub-specialty trainee, postgraduate trainees in Obstetrics and Gynecology and medical students.

The successful applicant will have, or be eligible for, certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Completion of a clinical fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction is required. The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a clinical academic appointment with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
