We are on the lookout for a dedicated and detail-oriented Sample Preparation Technician to join our vibrant team in Brisbane. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for receiving and processing field samples in preparation for analysis, all while working under the guidance of a Chemist. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our laboratory operations.
This is a part-time position, offering the flexibility of working three consecutive days per week with early start times that align with Bayer Crop Science in the US.

Do something that moves you.
- Receive and accurately log field samples transported via road, ensuring proper storage within the laboratory’s freezers.
- Homogenise samples utilising a variety of cutting utensils, including commercial blenders, and assist in the extraction process for subsequent analysis.
- Prepare laboratory solutions and reagents as necessary to support analytical procedures.
- Conduct calibration and maintenance of basic laboratory equipment to guarantee optimal operational performance.
- Uphold a clean and organised sample preparation area, including the thorough cleaning of glassware and laboratory equipment.
- Strictly adhere to safety protocols to effectively manage chemical exposure and ensure safe handling of dry ice.
- Standard office hours are from 7 am to 7 pm, with breaks scheduled as needed.

- Demonstrated attention to detail and proficiency in following written instructions meticulously.
- Strong time management and organisational skills to effectively prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with peers and supervisors.
- Previous laboratory experience is advantageous but not a prerequisite.
- Candidates must possess the physical fitness required to meet the demands of the position.
- Capability to lift light loads (up to 10 kg), maneuver trolleys, and perform repetitive tasks while standing for extended periods.
- Awareness of the physical demands and potential risks associated with the role, including exposure to allergens, and a commitment to practicing ergonomic safety measures.
