Axiom, a global leader in alternative legal services, is working with a globally recognized technology company seeking an experienced Labour and Employment lawyer to serve as interim senior legal counsel on their legal team. This will be a full-time, 12-month role, based in either Sydney or Melbourne. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a high-caliber team, providing thoughtful and practical legal guidance to a diverse group of internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders, with particular emphasis on regulatory compliance and changes for gig economy workers.
- Liaise with union leaders, negotiate key terms of collective bargaining agreements, and provide guidance on employment concerns for wage and hourly workers.
- Review, draft, and update policies, procedures, and playbooks to align with changing legislation and technology.
- Manage employment-related disputes and mitigate risk and potential litigation.
- Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience focusing on labour and employment law in Australia.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Employment Laws and the Fair Work Act.
- Awareness of new or pending federal and state legislation, rules and regulations, and industry developments and trends with particular focus on gig economy and wage and hour workers.
- Experience working independently and cross-functionally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Must have full Australian working rights and be eligible to practice in Australia
