We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Window Plant Wood and Coatings support team at Andersen’s Bayport, MN facility. The primary focus of the Quality Engineer position will be to contribute to quality assurance department activities and quality control policy adherence for Bayport manufacturing processes. Other areas of focus include: develop standardized processes, drive continuous improvement, improve customer satisfaction, reduce waste, increase efficiency, audit, measure and monitor our production processes ensuring product conformance to specification. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving. Perform root cause analysis to find sources of variation and process problems and use DMAIC tools to resolve them.Support the development of quality systems, programs, training tools, documents and standard operating procedures for critical to quality production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability.Preparation and execution of quality control plans, including the review of specifications, tolerances, capabilities and preparation of necessary supporting documentation and justification.Part Submission Warrant (PSW) requests and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submittals.Lead containment activities when reactive issues arise and ensure all customer issues (CAPA’s, etc.) are addressed, filed, and documented in a timely manner.Participate and lead regular touchpoint meetings with our internal and external customers to proactively address any questions or concerns on product as well as any proposed changes.Use Statistical Process Control to identify out-of-control conditions and define control plans to reduce process variation.Support continuous improvement activities and lean manufacturing implementations.Develop gauges and other tools for assessing conformance of manufactured parts to engineering specifications.Maintain the Non-Conforming Material (NCM) processes ensuring the database is complete and accurate. Develop training tools and train other team members to use the non-conformance processes.QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:BS (4 year) degree in Engineering, Technology, or similar fieldKnowledge of quality programs, SPC, process capability and lean manufacturing principlesAble to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and standardsStrong analytical skills and attention to detailAbility to present and articulate quality programs, continuous improvement methodologies and problem-solving techniques in a clear, concise, and logical mannerAbility to gather and analyze data through statistical techniques: perform and analyze process capability studiesExperience implementing process control chartingUsage of computer software tools, such as Excel or Minitab, to analyze data to detect trends and abnormalitiesGood organization, prioritization, and project management skillsDesire to continue to grow and develop personallyCOMPENSATION:Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $77,255-119,745.
