The Maine College of Engineering and Computing invites applications for a Special Assistant. The Special Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination and management of the Maine College of Engineering and Computing (MCEC), a signature initiative of UMS TRANSFORMS, the Harold Alfond Foundation’s investment in the University of Maine System. This position exists to provide essential administrative, logistical, and project management support, enabling MCEC to effectively meet its strategic goals laid out by UMS TRANSFORMS and serve faculty, staff, and students. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $45,000 to $50,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
  • Typically requires three or more years of relevant professional experience. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated close attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Possess the ability to have independent judgment, initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google. 

Preferred

  • Ability to work creatively and independently within a team environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • Ability to work well with many people at all levels of an organization. 
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and logistics. 
  • Ability to identify and shift priorities. 
  • Prior professional experience in higher education.
