About the Department
The person in this position must also be able to generate and maintain records, reports, and files (i.e., on-time performance, trip mileage log, and trip service units), as well as respond to complaints and resolve problems.
Position Duties
Answers incoming calls from Senior Services clients, customers, department personnel, and others: takes accurate notes of needed service; determines nature and priority of calls; answers questions; routes calls to appropriate personnel; and contact emergency response department when necessary.
Dispatches personnel to clients' locations: operates two-way radio or console; relays and confirms information, instructions and directives; and follows up with callers as needed.
Schedules transportation for clients needing medical, dental, shopping or other appointments: inputs schedules into departmental system; and interprets and disseminates itinerary and routes to drivers.
Performs general administrative support functions in supporting efficient unit operations, e.g., entering data, sending facsimiles, copying, filing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by two years of experience in customer service or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior dispatch and customer service experience; strong computer skills; prior knowledge working with scheduling software.
Other Qualifications
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
