About the Department
Alabama State University, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, invites applications to fill the position of Assessment Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to implement the continuous improvement program to ensure the institution's ongoing compliance with the standards set by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Assessment Specialist will collaborate closely with both instructional and non-instructional units to aid in planning, assessment, data collection, analysis, and documentation of evidence of improvement. Their focus will be on promoting effective and sustainable assessment practices with a primary emphasis on enhancing student achievement and continuously improving services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review assessment plans for non-instructional units and provide feedback on accuracy of reports.
- Conduct an annual audit of assessment reports using institutional developed rubric.
- Manage institutional data and reporting systems to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide project support by researching and gathering information needed to complete final reports.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided to campus constituents (training and development, consultations, technical support, resource administration, and research).
- Create and disseminate informative planning, assessment and evaluation brochures and resources to the campus community.
- Participate in the review of departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in local, state, regional, and national professional associations, conferences and committees as appropriate.
- Prepare correspondence, memoranda, reports and forms.
- Assist with maintaining the unit’s website.
- Responsible for the development of IE quarterly and annual reports.
- Provides support with the launch and implementation of the institution’s strategic plan.
- Assist with preparing presentations and assisting in setup or facility preparations
- Assist in the administration and collection of surveys/assessment data
- Assist in the analysis of data from surveys, student learning outcomes, and other assessment efforts
- Create formative and summative reports using assessment data collected to share progress towards continuous improvement
- Ensure timely completion of all reports, activities, and initiatives related to the continuous improvement process
- Keep current regarding SACSCOC standards as it pertains to continuous improvement
- Assist in monitoring and tracking the progress of the Title III activity
- Maintain accurate records to producing monthly reports of productivity and progress for Title III reporting purposes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) with at least three years of experience working in higher education. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and desktop publishing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud. Knowledge and experience working with databases. Ability to analyze data and assist in preparation of presentations and reports. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
