How You'll Contribute:
As a Senior Sales Support Consultant, you will be responsible for driving business development by delivering exceptional support and training to agents and Independent Marketing Organizations (IMOs). This role will work closely with the Sales Desk, Marketing, and cross-functional departments to resolve issues, support sales initiatives, and enhance agent experiences. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about financial services and bring strong communication, product knowledge, and problem-solving skills to a collaborative and inclusive team.

Position Summary:
The Senior Sales Support Consultant works collaboratively with team members and department leaders, as well as independently, to accomplish their daily responsibilities, with the ultimate goal of providing excellent customer service. This individual is responsible for promoting new business development by providing training and direct support to our agents and Independent Marketing Organizations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provides direct sales support and training to agents and Independent Marketing Organizations and their support staff by responding to telephone calls and emails.
  • Proactively promotes EquiTrust products, services and programs through telephone calls, faxes and emails placed to target agents. Resolves agent and IMO issues/questions regarding all products, required training, computer operations/website and general questions.
  • Administers EquiTrust-sponsored sales and recruiting incentive programs.
  • Coordinates solutions to administrative problems between EquiTrust and its agents.
  • Conducts on-site training and promotional meetings with groups of agents or IMOs.
  • Collaborates with Marketing in developing sales support materials and other marketing communications.
  • Establishes and updates competitor product profiles to include product design features, rates, strategies, riders,
    fees and charges and all other comparison data.
  • Assists the Assistant Vice President, Sales in support of identified projects.
  • Conducts online webinars to prepare agents to promote EquiTrust products and services directly to their
    clients.
  • Leads the coordination of solutions with all departments involved regarding administrative issues including new business, contracting, funding and Inforce.
  • Provides technical knowledge to the team and handles more complex and escalated issues independently or with guidance from the department manager.
  • Trains new staff on EquiTrust’s processes, products and state regulations.
  • Sets a good example and provides a positive influence within the department.
  • Leads and assists in the planning and implementation of projects.
  • Functions as team leader in manager’s absence.
  • Supports the Sales and Marketing team and other departments on an as needed basis.
  • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.
  • Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

What You'll Bring:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Degreed Professionals: 4 years of sales or wholesaling experience required.
  • Non-Degreed Professionals: 6 years of sales or wholesaling experience required.
  • Minimum 4 years of life and annuity insurance experience required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Life, Accident & Health Insurance license or ability to obtain the certification within 120 days of start date required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent phone presence and skills in handling escalated calls under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize workflows, establish and meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of situations and respond to change in a positive manner.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to navigate multiple systems and programs including Microsoft Office, proprietary systems and other technology solutions, such as Sales Force.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including a high degree of professionalism.
  • Carries out responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with EquiTrust’s Core Values and focus on customer
    service; helps to create an environment of openness and trust for all employees and strives for continued professional skills development.
  • Excellent understanding of Life and Annuity insurance products.
  • Specific product knowledge of Index and Deferred Annuities along with basic knowledge of Life products is required.

Where You’ll Work: 

  • West Des Moines, IA
  • Office Location: Mostly On-Site 
  • Expected Travel: Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time).
