The Development Specialist supports Tennyson Center for Children’s fundraising and development efforts. This position reports to the Chief Development & Marketing Officer, works closely with the entire marketing and development team and supervises the Events Manager and the Community Engagement Coordinator. This position has a range of responsibilities including individual and corporate donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, special events, grants, and annual appeal creation and implementation.
Essential Job Functions
- Cultivates, solicits and stewards a donor portfolio of at least 150 individual and corporate prospects
- Works with the Events Manager and Community Engagement Coordinator to secure and steward corporate event sponsorships, volunteers and community partnerships
- Works closely with the Marketing Manager to plan and execute the annual appeal campaign and strategy
- In conjunction with the team, promotes events, peer to peer fundraising, monthly giving, 3rd party fund raisers and planned giving
- Supports grant research through identifying new corporate and national grant opportunities
- Supervises at least 2 fund raising team members
Physical Requirements
- Minimal physical requirements, on occasion lifting up to 30 pounds as needed.
- Setting up and breaking down materials or collateral information at special events may be required.
Working Conditions
- Position may be remote up to 20% of the time.
- General office environment.
- May require driving to and from local or state-wide events as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of successful fundraising experience in raising 5 and 6 figure gifts from corporations, individuals and family foundations/donor advised funds.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in fundraising through special events preferred.
- Knowledge of or proficient with Microsoft Office, Teams, Raiser’s Edge and other CRM software.
- Valid CO driver licensure
