Job Description:

Ingram Barge Company has an opening for a Procurement and Vendor Relations Manager in Nashville, TN. We are seeking a results-driven leader to manage our External Services Procurement function. This role is responsible for leading a team of associates, developing supplier strategies, and securing and managing critical vendor services to support operational and strategic goals. This person is a negotiator, strategist, analyst, and relationship builder.

What you will be doing:

  • Providing leadership to direct reports
  • Working very closely with customer service/logistics and sales, legal, operations, CFS, AP and IS
  • Analyzing complex market data, internal operations, sales projections, and geographic trends to effectively select and negotiate supplier agreements
  • Responsible for analyzing vendor performance impacts, cost analysis as it relates to vendor performance, expenses and their impacts on sales proposals and P&L
  • Working cross functionally to develop strategies for external service needs and providers.
  • Ensuring the external provider chains and internal needs are met through managing property leases, fleeting availability, vendor agreements, vendor networks and internal stakeholder feedback
  • Working with stakeholders to determine asset charter needs, negotiating individual and master charter agreements for boats and barges
  • Performing complex analyses and negotiations 
  • Ensuring vendor compliance with company requirements such as insurance
  • Ensuring efficient distribution and management of external services needed within the organization
  • Ensuring efficient procure to pay process, vendor payment, and invoice issues
  • Managing supplier bid process
  • Managing miscellaneous projects assigned
  • Managing supplier development, reviews, and performance
  • Managing boat charters in cooperation with sales/logistics and customer service
  • Managing external service providers service agreements
  • Supporting real estate lease/fleet programs
  • Reviewing and developing contracts/agreements 
  • Assisting direct reports
  • Overseeing review of vendor billing accuracy and cost recovery
  • Working with the team to develop, refine, and execute supplier strategy
  • Assisting in the development and carrying out of best practices and policy
  • Taking on-call duties as required
  • Processing requisitions and PO’s as needed
  • Negotiating with vendors using fact based negotiation skills to obtain best value
  • Coordinating with cross functional teams to ensure complete Statement of Requirements for bids
  • Performing process improvement research and analyses
  • Performing analyses to support and participate in contract negotiations
  • Supervising associates responsible for PeopleSoft access and updates
  • Participate in the development, maintenance and improvement of invoice management systems
  • Leading execution of department strategy and plans
  • Providing back up for other supply chain managers as needed
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A bachelor's degree is preferred; high school diploma/GED is required

Supervisory Responsibility - responsible for direct supervision of one or more associates

  • Ability to travel 20%
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong financial and analytical skills required
  • Able to evaluate supplier cost structures and analyze proposals and expenses
  • Knowledge of marine industry and associated real estate markets and key participants
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and pivot as needed
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Consistent organizational competencies
