POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Enterprise Operations is responsible for leading and executing strategic initiatives that optimize the organization’s logistics and transportation network across both customer and carrier departments. This role ensures that sourcing, pricing, and operational practices align with service goals, cost targets, and long-term business growth. The Director will foster strategic partnerships, drive cross-functional collaboration, and lead enterprise-wide efforts to enhance margin performance and service delivery.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and lead enterprise operations strategy that supports scalable, long-term partnerships with both customers and carriers.
- Oversee procurement and capacity planning to ensure alignment with customer demand and carrier capabilities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Carrier Sales, Customer Operations, Account Management, and Technology teams to ensure seamless execution across the logistics lifecycle.
- Design and manage procurement cycles (e.g., mini-bids, annual bids) to secure competitive pricing and committed capacity for both customer and carrier needs.
- Monitor and analyze operational KPIs, including cost per mile, carrier acceptance, margin contribution, service levels, and capacity utilization.
- Lead and develop enterprise operations team, providing coaching, performance management, and process standardization across departments.
- Partner with executive leadership to forecast market trends and operational needs across business segments.
- Leverage technology and analytics tools to optimize sourcing, tracking, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with safety, insurance, and operational standards across all logistics partners.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across customer and carrier operations.
- Drive alignment between procurement strategy and customer service goals.
- Support enterprise-wide initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
- Represent the operations function in strategic planning and executive-level discussions.
Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Communications, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in customer experience, operations, or client success roles
- 3+ years in a leadership position with direct team management and cross-functional collaboration responsibilities
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with logistics platforms such as TMS (Transportation Management Systems), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems
- Background in freight brokerage, third-party logistics (3PL), or transportation services
- Proven success in leading enterprise-wide initiatives that span customer and carrier operations
REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.):
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities, with a focus on cross-functional alignment
- Advanced communication, stakeholder engagement, and conflict-resolution skills
- Experience implementing customer and carrier feedback systems, service metrics, and continuous improvement programs
- Proficiency in CRM and support platforms, with the ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically across multiple departments and business segments
