Who We Are
The Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition is now Amica Center for Immigrant Rights (“Amica Center” for short). Click here to learn more about our new name. Since our founding in 1999, we have grown significantly and added new services to support immigrants in detention. Recently, Amica Center has outgrown our name, expanding beyond our initial services and geographic boundaries.
“Amica” is the Latin word for “friend,” and that echoes the way we approach what we do. Just as friends stand with one another, Amica Center stands with our clients to achieve the safety, stability, and opportunity we all deserve.
We are the only non-profit organization in the Washington, D.C. area that is exclusively focused on providing legal assistance to adult and child immigrants detained by the government in the Capital Region and beyond.

Position Summary
The Financial Coordinator is a full-time position working directly with the Director of Finance and the Program Finance Manager to support the financial operations of the organization.
General Duties and Responsibilities [1]
- Assist the Program Finance Manager with the preparation and submission of monthly grant invoices.
- Coordinate with program staff to clarify expenses and ensure accurate reporting.
- Support basic grant administrative reporting and documentation as needed.
- Record daily cash transactions in Sage Intacct with a high degree of accuracy.
- Monitor bank activity to ensure all income and expenses are captured in a timely manner.
- Serve as backup for input of weekly accounts payable.
- Maintain vendor records and ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
- Support employee reimbursements through Expense Wire.
- Assist with the bi-weekly payroll preparation by populating excel templates and uploading data into Sage Intacct.
- Clicktime database management

While the Director of Finance will strive to maintain a regular work schedule, there may be times when work demands exceed the norm. The situation may arise due to unforeseen circumstances. During these times, it may be necessary to extend the working hours to ensure tasks are completed within the required time frame.

$61,000-$64,000 commensurate with experience
[2] In 2018 Amica Center implemented a compensation framework to be more straightforward, transparent, and provide assurance of internal equity. The compensation model we use is based on an individual's position and years of relevant work experience to avoid salary discrepancies and to reduce the risk of racial, gender, or other forms of bias affecting a candidate's salary.
Location
Amica Center follows a hybrid work environment. This position can be based from our Washington, DC, or Baltimore, MD office, or it can be a fully remote position for the right candidate.
Travel
This position may require occasional travel to Amica Center’s Baltimore, Maryland and/or Washington D.C. Office.
Telework
Amica Center follows a hybrid work model, requiring staff to be on-site at least one day per week. Certain roles may involve additional in-office presence or travel, while fully remote positions are exempt from this requirement.
COVID-19 Vaccination:
All employees are required to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. To be fully vaccinated means having completed the full dosages required for the type of vaccine obtained as designated by the CDC. If boosters are subsequently recommended by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) then employees will be required to receive the booster within thirty (30) days of their eligibility to access the boosters.

- 23 Personal Days per calendar year

Requirements
Competencies Required:
- Attention to Detail: Accurately records financial data, reviews documentation, and ensures compliance with financial procedures.
- Collaboration and Communication: Works effectively with finance and program staff to gather information, clarify expenses, and support smooth financial operations.
- Excel Proficiency: Demonstrates strong Microsoft Excel skills and is comfortable learning and navigating new functions as needed.
Qualifications Required:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and nonprofit finance
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct and/or ExpenseWire is a plus.
- Experience supporting grant reporting or compliance is preferred.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively across departments.
