About the Role:
The Morgan Medical Center Outpatient Clinic Front Office Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the outpatient department. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and facilitating a welcoming environment. The assistant is responsible for managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records, which directly impacts patient satisfaction and clinic workflow. By coordinating communication between patients, medical staff, and administrative teams, this role supports the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. Ultimately, the Front Office Assistant contributes to the overall success of the medical center by enhancing operational efficiency and patient experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Strong communication, able to multi task and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Medical Office Administration or related field.
- Experience with insurance verification and billing procedures.
- Familiarity with patient privacy laws and healthcare compliance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive and professional first impression.
- Manage patient registration, verify insurance information, and update medical records accurately.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm outpatient appointments using the center’s electronic health record system.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical or administrative personnel.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient flow and communicate any delays or changes promptly.
- Process patient check-outs, collect co-pays, and handle billing inquiries in accordance with center policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all healthcare regulations including HIPAA standards.
- Perform general administrative duties such as filing, faxing, and managing office supplies to support daily operations.
