Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for the Slag Cement operations as well as assist with the Cement operations.  The ideal candidate will work closely with plant operations, supply chain, and finance to ensure accurate financial reporting and provide guidance to assist with maximizing profitability.   

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and report on sales, revenues, production and costs.
  • Maintain and update standard systems; investigate and explain variances.
  • Cross collaborates with multiple departments throughout company operations to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions, including raw materials.
  • Assist in preparing cost analysis reports to support pricing decisions and profitability assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and procedures, and accounting standards.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes with accurate cost entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with internal and external audit processes and requests.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Oracle, SAP, APEX)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • A self-starter who is skilled at working independently and learns quickly.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across the organization.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial operations.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and IFRS standards
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analytic tools.

 

Working Environment:

  • Primarily office based with periodic visits to plant sites.
  • May require extended hours during reporting periods or audits.
  • Limited overnight travel (<10%)
