The Game Systems & Monetisation Area in Soda is hiring a Director of Engineering to support and guide our engineers, fostering an environment where they can thrive and innovate while providing the technical leadership to execute on our product strategy. You will be part of the Game Systems & Monetisation leadership team, working in close collaboration with leaders in Product, Analytics & Creative as well as partners from our Marketing and Platform teams.
In the Game Systems & Monetisation Area we are focused on tailoring the Candy Crush Soda experience to be fun and engaging for every player. Whether you are a first time player or a 10 year Candy Crush Soda veteran our ambition is simple: Provide a relevant and engaging game with the opportunity to elevate your experience through meaningful monetisation moments.
The Director of Engineering role spans three core areas of responsibility:
Providing technical leadership in the Game Systems & Monetisation area
Developing and executing the technical strategy and roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders
Fostering a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing engineering team in the Game Systems & Monetisation Area
In this role you will translate our business needs and the product vision into the area tech strategy and play an integral part in finding, retaining, and developing the best talent. You will be key in shaping a dynamic, high-impact team where everyone feels supported, valued, and empowered to create exceptional experiences for our players!
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical performance and quality of the Area game components
Developing a tech strategy that defines how technology will be leveraged to achieve Game Systems & Monetisation goals and objectives
Equip the Game Systems & Monetisation tech teams with the right tools, skills, and processes
Collaborate to drive innovation & bring new business opportunities to the area through technology advancements
Lead, mentor and support the growth of technical specialists as part of cross- functional teams within the area.
Embed established Soda Tech best practices and actively promote software industry standards into the area’s development process
Empower and equip your team to take the right technical decisions, prioritize needs and set goals
Build, maintain and nurture relationships between product areas, specially on the engineering side
Engage with stakeholders (internal and external to the area) to define and align on the area’s technical roadmap
Work with the rest of your product area’s counterparts, Soda’s central tech team and other platform teams across the Kingdom to ensure cohesion, compliance and alignment
Ownership of the employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, performance management, recognition and talent retention
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes and technology through innovation and collaboration.
VALUABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are looking for a Director of Engineering with a demonstrated track record of software development and technical excellence and a passion for team building. You are humble and open with a genuine and collaborative approach and motivated by working in a fun, inclusive and diverse organization.
Architecting and designing complex systems
Proven experience of leading and building engineering teams
Performance management and career development of engineers
Ability to plan and deliver solutions that take into account both current and future needs
Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Extensive experience working in a high level language (C++, C#, Java)
Proficient in English, with strong communication skills to collaborate across teams
You can effectively communicate with both technical and business stakeholders
Nice-to-have(s):
Prior experience in the gaming industry
Know-how in project management
In depth knowledge of modern C++ language
