Do you have your Juris Doctorate Degree and a passion for child advocacy? Then, consider applying for Child Advocate Attorney in the Chatham County Child Advocate Office.

May be hired as Child Advocate Attorney I-IV, based on Experience Level. Salary commensurate with Qualifications and Experience Level.

Position Duties

  • Perform professional legal work involved in representing the legal rights and best interests of abused and neglected children in dependency matters before the Chatham County Juvenile Court. 
  • Investigate abuse allegations and litigate dependency cases before the Juvenile Court. 
  • Provide legal representation, including case investigation, legal research, evaluation, and strategic preparation for dependency court proceedings. 
  • Represent clients at all stages of their cases. 
  • Provide ongoing case monitoring and advocacy by collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure that clients’ well-being needs are met, and that permanent homes and caretakers are identified. 
  • Regularly visit child clients and communicate with Department of Family and Children Services case managers, other attorneys, foster parents, educators, and medical and mental health professionals. 
  • May supervise staff. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia.
  • Must be a Member in Good Standing of the State Bar of Georgia. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
