The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $115,000 - $135,000 per year. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.
The pay range is not guaranteed compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as a discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Test Center Supervisor to lead and support activities within our New Food Application & Technology Center of Excellence. This is a hands-on supervisory role combining leadership responsibilities with active involvement in laboratory and pilot plant experiments. The Supervisor will guide a dedicated team (direct reports TBD), ensure smooth day-to-day operations, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver world-class results.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of test engineers and lab technicians, fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and innovation.
- Oversee and participate in laboratory trials, pilot experiments, and experimental testing.
- Serve as the primary customer interface during Technology Transfer, ensuring effective communication and high-quality outcomes.
- Manage test center operations including scheduling, logistics, quality, health & safety, and facility maintenance.
- Prepare, analyze, and present comprehensive final reports from laboratory and pilot plant activities.
- Collaborate with GEA’s pre-sales and project execution teams to support scale-up of technologies.
- Build strong partnerships with the GEA New Food Business Line, international GEA Test Centers, and other GEA divisions to maximize synergies.
Your Profile / Qualifications
Profile and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related field, with emphasis on biotechnology, microbiology, or a similar discipline.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally in laboratory or pilot plant settings.
- 8 + years of hands-on experience in biotechnology applications, microbiology, or small-scale production operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Customer-oriented mindset with excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to balance operational oversight with active participation in experimental work.
