Position Summary
Girl Scouts River Valleys is looking for a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to help grow, support, and celebrate our incredible community of volunteers. In this role, you’ll recruit, onboard, and coach volunteers while building strong relationships within assigned communities. You’ll also support council-wide initiatives such as membership, product programs, and recruitment, all while promoting inclusivity and applying a DEIARJ lens to everything you do. This is a dynamic, people-focused position where you’ll make a lasting impact by ensuring volunteers feel connected, supported, and empowered to lead.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a relationship-builder who is empathetic, creative, and organized, with experience working with volunteers and diverse communities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, comfortable navigating conflict with empathy, and skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual skills are a plus, along with proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office, Canva, and Salesforce. If you thrive in flexible, community-centered work, are open to evening and weekend hours, and are excited to contribute to our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, we’d love to have you on our team.
Compensation
At GSRV, we believe that a well-structured compensation package will attract and retain talent. Therefore, we are very competitive with including a compensation package for this position that aligns with like-organizations and positions in the area. This includes:

Responsibilities
To be successful, the following are essential duties and responsibilities of this position:

Volunteer Recruitment & Management: Recruit, onboard, support, coach, and appreciate volunteers in assigned communities.

Leadership: Build relationships and develop expertise in assigned communities and share insights to support council-wide initiatives.

Communication: Maintain regular contact with volunteers via phone, email, virtual meetings, and community events. Adapt to different communication styles, preferences, and cultural differences.

Conflict Management: Investigate and mediate conflicts between volunteers, families, and other Girl Scout members with empathy and cultural awareness.

Tracking: Monitor recruitment and retention metrics, adjust strategies as needed, and update tracking tools regularly.

Collaboration: Understand the needs and opportunities of assigned communities and take appropriate action in conjunction with volunteers and other staff teams. Promote and support council-wide campaigns as assigned.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access, & Racial Justice: Apply a DEIARJ lens to all interactions and projects, helping advance our goal of becoming an anti-racist organization.
