What we’re looking for:
- Strong swimming skills and love for the pool
- Experience working with kids (bonus if you’ve taught lessons before!)
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to earn it)
- Enthusiasm that can ripple across the pool deck

POSITION SUMMARY
Instructor Aquatics, working as part of the Aquatics team, will deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The individual will be responsible for providing safe swim instruction for participants. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Always maintain pool safety during swimming lessons; deliver lessons that provide students the best opportunity to acquire skills for their level
- Educate participants on pool rules and enforce rules as required
- Remain current on CPR, First Aid and other safety certification training
- Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately using proper forms
- Be visible to members at all times-work towards center membership retention goals
- Keep daily attendance records and complete level skill sheets
- Be in the water 50-100% of class time
- Communicate with all participants/parents if class is being cancelled and/or rescheduled
- Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans

Qualifications & Benefits
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 16 years of age
- Swim Lesson Certification
- Listen First within 6 months of hire or an action plan in place
- CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of hire
- Strong communication and listening skills are required
