Underwriting Intern Opportunity
Like to solve puzzles and analyze data? Underwriters determine which clients get what coverage and how much it costs. You will develop skills to understand how the underwriting function fits into the insurance process, focusing on risk selection and file documentation, and working on team projects. You will also learn about our products, underwriting appetite, business processes that allow our customers to see us differently and give us a competitive advantage in the industry.
Internship Experience:
- Orientation & Capstone – Kick off with a one-week orientation; wrap up with a presentation to executives.
- Training & Shadowing – Gain hands-on exposure to claims and adjuster workflows
- Intern Manager – Receive coaching, career feedback, and regular guidance.
- GiveBack – Contribute to the community through volunteer opportunities.
- Builders University & Events – Participate in professional development workshops and leadership roundtables.
- Networking & Buddy Program – Build relationships with leaders, peers, and a dedicated intern buddy.
- Hybrid Work – Work onsite in Raleigh, NC three days a week with remote flexibility the other two.
- New Grad Opportunities – High-performing interns may be considered for full-time roles after graduation.
Skills to get the INTERNSHIP done RIGHT:
- Current undergrad student working towards a degree in Risk Management Insurance or Business not graduating prior to December 2026 or after December 2027.
- Desire to work for an NC based regional carrier upon graduation
- You've got practical experience inside or outside of school or work
- Leader, you have demonstrable experience (group projects and/or clubs plus engaged in class)
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and interpersonal
- Proven team player who takes the initiative and works with others to achieve team goals
- High-level analytical capabilities
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) plus you can learn new software or tools quickly
- Ability to commit for 10 weeks (May 18 - July 24) during the summer of 2026, working 37.5 hours per week
- Willing to live or commute to Raleigh during your intern experience
