Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends as necessary as customer demands could cause staff to work outside normal business operating hours.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining sanitation levels in and around the facility as set by company standards and procedures. In this role, the Custodian will handle a wide variety of tasks from assisting in light maintenance projects, ensuring the cleanliness of the warehouse, adheres to the sanitation schedule, to keeping the outside grounds of the facility clean.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Clean warehouse with a variety of tools and equipment such as: Motorized floor scrubber, hand brooms, and sweepers
• Maintains and cleans equipment
• Wipe down and clean surfaces throughout the facility such as dusting and moping
• Grounds keeping including disposal of trash, keeping walks clear and possible snow removal
• Assist when needed in performing minor repairs and general carpentry projects
• Maintaining records appropriately
• Other duties may be assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works in a warehouse setting. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years industrial cleaning or commercial custodial experience
• Proficient with basic carpentry  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Custodian will spend about 90% of his/her time walking and moving throughout the building and standing for long periods of time. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
