Fort HealthCare is a patient-centered hospital and healthcare system serving individuals, businesses and families in Jefferson, Dane, and Walworth Counties, and we are seeking a Sonographer to join our Imaging team.

Shift:
64 hours per bi-weekly pay period
Day shift
Call 1 weeknight and every 5th weekend

The Sonographer performs quality imaging that assists physicians in diagnoses relevant to ultrasound imaging.  

  • Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Proficiently performs basic to advanced ultrasound procedures.
  • Uses cognitive ultrasound skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic relevant information.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinic history, confirms patient’s understanding and addresses questions or concerns. Uses independent judgment during ultrasound exams to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings. Communicates findings to the radiologist.
  • Assists, communicates, and consults with collaborating providers in an effective manner. Utilizes PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) to work collaboratively with radiologists, ensuring imaging studies are complete and assigned appropriately. Assists providers during patient procedures.
  • Utilizes software programs such as PACS and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) to maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation. Identifies errors in documentation and takes steps necessary to correct.
  • Understands scheduling processes as they relate to assigned modality and works collaboratively with schedulers to ensure prompt and effective scheduling practices.

Requirements of this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Radiologic Technology program (earning an associate degree or greater) required
  • 1 year of sonography experience required
  • 2 or more years of sonography experience preferred
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Additional ARDMS certifications such as OB/GYN, breast, pediatric sonography, etc. preferred
