You Will Help Our Youth Thrive By:

  1. Assisting the lead teacher and collaborating with other team members in planning and implementing instructional and behavioral activities, including lessons, projects, and classroom routines to maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.

  2. Under the supervision of a Licensed Therapist and/or BCBA, implement and reinforce student’s Behavior Implementation Plan. 

  3. Providing individualized or small-group behavioral and academic support to students.

  4. Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and therapists regarding students' strengths and areas for improvement.

  5. Assisting with classroom management and supporting students in maintaining positive behavior and following expectations.

  6. Supervising students during lunch, recess, and other school activities, ensuring safety and appropriate behavior.

  7. Supporting students with special needs as directed by the lead teacher or therapist, including accommodations or modifications.

  8. Provide immediate, on-the-ground support during student behavioral or emotional crises.

  9. Implement CPI strategies, including de-escalation and, when necessary, physical intervention consistent with training and policy.

  10.  Helping with the preparation and organization of classroom materials, supplies, and learning resources.

  11.  Provide assistance with student transportation needs, including transitions to and from vehicles.

  12.  Support safe and orderly travel during community-based instruction or other off-campus activities as needed.

  13.  Fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom culture that values diversity and promotes respect among all students.

  14.  Maintaining knowledge of program standards and policies as developed by Villages of California and other governing bodies.

  15.  Attending required staff training sessions and completing all professional development on time.

  16.  Maintaining confidentiality regarding students, families, and agency operations.

  17.  Incorporating Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job performance.

  18.  Exercising good judgment and maintaining professional relationships with students, staff, and outside stakeholders.

  19.  Participating in program and staff meetings and adhering to Villages of California’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

  20.  Other duties as assigned.

                                                                                              

What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational or school setting.

  • ABA, RBT certification preferred.

  • Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators and therapists.

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn strategies for supporting students with special needs.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to use an electronic medical or educational record system.

  • Ability to establish and consistently enforce appropriate boundaries with students.

  • Understanding of child, adolescent, and family development.

  • Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License, proof of automobile insurance, and a safe driving record.
