About the Role:
The Endoscopy Tech plays a crucial role in the healthcare services sector, specifically within the gastroenterology field. This position is responsible for assisting in endoscopic procedures, ensuring that all equipment is properly prepared and maintained for optimal performance. The end result of this role is to enhance patient safety and comfort during procedures while supporting the medical team in delivering high-quality care. The Surgical Endo Tech will also be involved in patient education, helping to explain procedures and alleviate concerns. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the gastroenterology practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a surgical or endoscopy environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a related field or completion of a surgical technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Endoscopy Technician.
- Previous experience in gastroenterology or endoscopic procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain endoscopic equipment and instruments for procedures.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by providing necessary tools and support.
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols in the endoscopy suite.
- Educate patients about the procedures they will undergo and provide post-procedure care instructions.
- Document procedures and maintain accurate records of equipment usage and patient interactions.
Skills:
The required skills for this position include strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in operating and maintaining endoscopic equipment is essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly with both patients and medical staff. Preferred skills such as knowledge of gastroenterology procedures and patient care techniques will enhance the candidate's ability to provide comprehensive support during procedures. Teamwork and collaboration are vital, as the Surgical Endo Tech will work closely with physicians and nurses to ensure seamless operations. Additionally, strong organizational skills will aid in managing equipment and documentation efficiently.
