Highlights of what you will do as the Director of Philanthropy:

  • Prepare a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals that align with the capital and endowment needs of Morningstar Living.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of Morningstar Living’s Volunteer Program.
  • Define specific and measurable annual goals for major gifts, planned giving, annual appeals, fundraising campaigns, and special events.
  • Identify prospective donors with the capacity and interest to support Morningstar Living through major gifts; and then plan and implement individual strategies to secure major gift commitments.
  • Develop annual fundraising campaigns, appeals, special events, and planned giving initiatives to secure donations and memorial gifts.
  • Meet regularly with current and prospective donors to nurture and cultivate donor interest, engagement, and contributions.
  • Build strategic partnerships throughout the Lehigh Valley region to expand Morningstar Living’s philanthropic reach through outreach and engagement.
  • Research, identify, write, and submit grant proposals to secure funding for Morningstar Livings programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Develop policies and procedures regarding gift vehicles, gift acceptance, donor recognition, administration, and stewardship of gifts.
  • Establish pledge guidelines for annual and capital campaigns in addition to pledge payment systems of monitoring and securing pledge payments when due.
  • Produce monthly gift reports and reconcile with the business office to ensure accuracy of financial data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE credential is preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ fundraising experience, with proven success in securing major gifts.
  • Proven experience with bequests, qualified charitable distributions, charitable gift annuities, donor-advised and designated funds, capital campaigns, etc.
  • Experience working with donor databases and CRMs (i.e., DonorSnap, MatrixCare)
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
