Manager Finance 

  • Key leadership role where your financial acumen and experience strategic financial reporting will shape the future and drive impactful change.
  • Ongoing role - Flexible Location
  • Salary - $149,739 - $173,174 per annum plus superannuation

This is a leadership opportunity to not only oversee the finances of SafeWork by providing management, reporting, financial accounting services and expert advice, but an opportunity to help grow and develop the next generation of Finance Leaders in the public sector.

 

Utilising your strong system skills and financial analytical capability, you will enable senior management to make informed business decision and ensure the financial performance of the business is consistent with best practise.

Key to the success of this role is interdependencies and balancing competing demands in line with agreed timelines, targets and expected level of quality to ensure organisational objectives are achieved.

 

No two days are the same, so you will never be bored as you balance the application of risk management to ensure appropriate controls and partnering with Executives on financial business planning.

As a leader, you will influence senior stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of the best outcomes for the business, considering legislative compliance, financial data integrity and maintenance of appropriate controls.

 

What does our ideal candidate look like?

  • Experienced Finance Manager within a similar professional, complex setting
  • Proactive with strong communication and verbal skills
  • A self-driven leader with a proactive approach to embedding strategic reporting frameworks
  • Understanding of finance and accounting concepts
  • Confidence and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Confidence in Budgeting and Forecasting, Reporting, Analytics, and business insights
  • Tertiary qualifications in the field of Finance, Accounting, CA or CPA
  • Full ownership of Business Financials and preparation of Annual Financial statements
  • Government and/or Independent Agency experience desirable
  • Systems experience including SAP, BW, TM1 and Prime

 

What might an average day look like as a Manager Finance?

  • Lead the preparation of management reporting and analysis of organisation's financial performance to ensure senior leaders can effectively respond to changing circumstances and developments
  • Provide expert financial advice and professional support to the executive, managers and budget holders to analyse and interpret financial information in respect of the business unit’s financial position by advising on trends and issues, providing options and carrying out impact analysis to inform decision making
  • Partner with the executive and relevant managers to identify and provide advice on strategic resourcing issues that impact on savings targets, funding, and develop strategies and proposals to address the identified issues to ensure targets and business outcomes are achieved
  • Develop and implement reporting systems, policies and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial information within reporting and the highest levels of corporate governance
  • Provide regulatory agencies with compliant financial statements, submissions, information and schedules by the required dates to ensure the business meets its statutory obligations
  • Manage internal and external audit engagements for the business and implement audit recommendations to ensure business is compliant and improves its financial performance
  • Collaborate with management and colleagues to undertake reviews of accounting policies, practices, processes and provide education and training to promote change, build capability and improve efficiency and effectiveness
