JOB DESCRIPTION: Intake Specialist Team Lead

Overview: Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) is a crisis mental health service program for youth and adults who are experiencing a psychiatric emergency. MCR agencies provide intensive mental health services for eligible individuals who may need hospitalization or community-based mental health care.

Basic Function: The Intake Specialist Team Lead helps guide and support a team of intake specialists who are often the first point of contact for clients seeking services. This role ensures that the team provides excellent customer service, accurate documentation, and timely connections to resources. The Team Lead also serves as a mentor to colleagues and assists with complex cases when needed.

Reports to: MCR Manager 

Supervises: N/A

 

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to intake specialists.
  • Help with training new team members and offering ongoing coaching.
  • Monitor call volume and workload to make sure clients are served quickly.
  • Step in to handle higher-need or urgent client situations.
  • Check documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work closely with crisis workers, clinicians, and other departments to coordinate client care.
  • Keep track of team progress and share updates with supervisors.
  • Complete intakes directly with clients when necessary.
  • Bed search initiation/ Clinical endorsement
  • Answering phones
  • Coordinating intake specialist meetings
  • Compiling reports from all intake shifts
  • Emails to MCO’s

 

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma and (1) One Year Experience in a related field.
  • Experience providing organizational and administrative support in behavioral health, non-profit, or social service required
  • Experience working with Illinois Medicaid programs, IL Rule 132/140, or DHS State grant programs, preferred
  • Knowledge and utilization of electronic medical record systems
  • Previous experience as a direct service treatment provider encouraged
  • Computer and smartphone proficiency, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Tools (ex. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access) and web-based project management tools, strong typing skills, and ability to effectively utilize electronic internal collaboration and communication tools (ex. Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365)

Schedule

  • Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly, 37.5 hours per week

Mental/Physical Demands:

Ability to solve problems and successfully cope with situations where some or minimal standardizations exists.  Ability to effectively gather, assess, write, and present information and respond to client inquiries.  Work requires prolonged concentration, proficiency in the use of computers, and the ability to manipulate data.  While performing these tasks, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit.  The employee is occasionally required to walk and stand.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Environmental Conditions:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Duties are performed in a typical office environment.  No unusual or adverse working conditions exist.
