Job Summary

Responsible for fabrication and welding of equipment in the plant in a timely, efficient manner to enable the production lines to complete the production schedule.

Essential Functions

• Fabricate equipment and piping to assist with the company’s continuous improvement efforts
• Perform tig and mig welding.
• Train and mentor Maintenance Specialists I and II.
• Repair machinery when it breaks down in a timely, efficient manner to keep production on schedule. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems.
• Installation, repair and maintenance of pipes throughout the plant
• Maintenance and/or repair of electric lines.
• Maintenance and/or repair of tanks and associated equipment
• Maintain boilers, keeping them clean and flushed
• Building maintenance and/or repair
• Maintenance and/or minor repair of the forklift
• Keeping the grounds clean and neat, including snow removal
• Track all work activity in the Somax computer system

Additional Responsibilities

• Operate forklift.
• Trash removal
• Assist with preventative maintenance tasks when requested
• Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Welding skills
• Knowledge of electrical switches, relays, contactors, and breakers
• Knowledge of pump and conveyor equipment
• Ability to operate a computer and use the Somax computer program
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Ability to operate a straight truck
• Strong mechanical skills and knowledge
• Ability to work with hand and shop tools
• Understand lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Ability to work independently with little to no guidance
• Leadership skills

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent
• At least ten years of industrial maintenance experience
• At least five years of welding experience; or Certificate in Welding
• At least five years of electrical experience preferred
• Current, valid driver’s license

Physical Demands

• Ability to go from standing position to kneeling position continuously
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lb. on occasion
• Ability to climb a ladder; sometimes several times per day
• Ability to bend, stand, sit, kneel, crouch, walk throughout the course of the day
• Ability to bend and twist to shovel snow
