Job Overview

The Associate Manager, Design Operations plays a key role in the successful execution of omni-channel content and creative operations for Newell Brands’ portfolio of products. This role bridges the gap between day-to-day project coordination and strategic management, with a primary focus on project management and workflow optimization.

 

Acting as a core operational leader, the Associate Manager supports project execution, enforces design governance standards, and ensures scalable and efficient project workflows. This role partners closely with the Manager, Design Operations to uphold operational excellence across project intake, content production, and asset delivery, while closely collaborating with a team of project coordinators and/or agency contributors.

 

Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution

  • Own and manage a portfolio of creative and content development projects from intake through delivery, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Support DTC, digital shelf, packaging, and integrated campaign asset development across digital and print channels.
  • Oversee intake, scoping, resourcing, scheduling, and project planning across multiple teams and timelines.
  • Maintain and optimize Workfront project data, timelines, and reporting accuracy.

Workflow Optimization & Governance

  • Implement best practices in workflow design, approvals, and routing in collaboration with Design Operations leadership.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to design governance frameworks and content lifecycle standards.
  • Identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks in current systems and propose solutions to improve scalability and throughput.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner closely with team of Coordinators, ensuring quality control and consistency in project deliverable deployment.
  • Serve as an escalation point for project-related issues and help track and resolve workflow or resourcing challenges.
  • Train and mentor junior team members and cross-functional stakeholders on tools, processes, and project expectations.

Cross-functional Communication

  • Act as a liaison between Design, Brand Marketing, DTC, and external partners/agencies to keep deliverables aligned with brand strategy and creative vision.
  • Provide regular updates on project health, KPIs, and risks to the Manager, Design Operations, as well as other cross-functional partners.
  • Support budget monitoring for projects and agency/vendor engagements, collaborating with the Manager to ensure fiscal responsibility.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in project or program management within a creative, marketing, or content development environment or related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex creative workflows from intake to execution.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (Workfront preferred); strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and creative agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Familiarity with digital shelf, DTC marketing, packaging, or production processes a plus.
