Job Title: Substitute Preschool Teacher / Program Staff
Reports to: Executive Director
Classification: Part-time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: Hours will vary. On a need basis. Hours can be 9:00 am – 1:00 pm M, W, F and 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Tue and Th. Our programs are based on the distinct need in our community; there is potential for hours to adjust. This position may range from 4 - 30 hours per week.
Salary: $13.75 per hour
Summary

The Program Staff will provide daily assistance to the Pre-School Teacher(s) and Executive Director in carrying out the program responsibilities of the facility including, but not limited to education, health, welfare and safety of children.
This position will be a substitute preschool teacher when one of our teachers is out. This position will be part time and on a need bases ranging from 4 - 30 hours per week.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Including, but not limited to:
Under the direction of the Pre-School Teacher and/or Executive Director, the Program Staff is responsible for the overall program operations including, but not limited to:
Education – Health - Welfare and safety – Compliance - Supervision of classroom and aides, including orientation and training - Customer service - Branch and program visibility
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- At least 18 years of age; a high school diploma or a general educational development certificate; one year or more of college preferred.
- Proven track record and positive experience in working with children, preferably in a program setting.
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: childcare settings, program development, songs/music, skits, crafts, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must be detail oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Responsible, well organized, and demonstrate initiative.
- Must have excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- First Aid, CPR and AED certifications to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Must have a valid child abuse history clearance.
- Must successfully complete ASYMCA background check; and must successfully complete the Missouri State Police Criminal Record Check and F.B.I. fingerprints screening. Results are required at time of hire.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the pre-school teachers in the implementation of daily ASYMCA Programs activities, ensuring that the programs meet the highest quality standards and needs of the public.
- Follow protocol for reporting incidents and for emergency procedures.
- Complete projects in a timely manner.
- Be able to articulate the center programs to prospective and new families and the community.
- Participate in special projects, staff trainings and, meetings.
- Encourage and recommend volunteer opportunities that support the ASYMCA mission.
