SUMMARY:

Manages the monthly and quarterly financial FP&A process, including distribution of reports, for the Enterprise.  Manages the planning, organizing and directing of the Enterprise’s annual financial plans and policies.  Manages and prepares financial analyses for various audiences within the Enterprise. This position will interact with all levels of management therefore the role requires the incumbent to have strong written and verbal communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • Manages the Enterprise capital planning process, including setting and communicating targets to departments and Operating Units, including creating scenarios, building income and balance sheets and creating reports for senior management and the Parent.

  • Leads the Enterprise Scorecard reporting and distribution process, including board level presentations

  • Manages and performs variance analyses across several lines of business

  • Collaboration and communication with executives on financial progress and forecasting, operational updates, risks and scorecard development.

  • Develops and documents new or changed policies and procedures to provide better financial management, to maximize efficiency and improve internal control.

  • Development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to identify and/or analyze operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness.

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for Medicare Advantage finance operations and initiatives, providing in-depth guidance and expertise on CMS bid and audit support, financial forecasts, process and transformation changes, and other related activities.

  • Supports system installations, conversions and upgrades, including report design, development and testing.

  • Supports both internal and external audits.

  • Maintains confidentiality of information processed.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position.  Other relevant essential functions may be required.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:   

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.  Progress towards or completion of industry recognized professional designations, i.e., CPA preferred. Continuous learning, is required.  Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

EXPERIENCE: 

Seven to ten years of relevant experience which provide the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Two years of prior supervisory experience. Experience with corporate budgeting, forecasting, Enterprise Risk Management and planning processes required.  Health care industry experience preferred. 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:

  1. Strong knowledge of, and the ability to accurately apply, statutory and generally accepted accounting principles 
  2. Knowledge of financial systems, process flows and internal controls.
  3. Knowledge of activities, practices and terminology for healthcare companies. 
  4. Ability to organize, analyze and interpret financial and management data to solve management and business problems.
  5. Ability to conduct root cause analysis of various problem situations and address them or refer them for appropriate decision making.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate accounting and finance processes, results and decisions, either through written or oral means 
  7. Ability to develop and implement effective and efficient recommendations.
  8. Excellent written communication skills.

  10. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage projects. 
  11. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage organizational resources.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Approximately 20% travel is required.

PAY RANGE: Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market, and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $104,400 and $174,900.
