We are currently seeking a new Project Coordinator Intern to join our GFS Chemicals team at our West Columbus, Ohio manufacturing facility. This position is on-site, at our 800 Kaderly Dr. location, with flexible daytime hours with a goal of working 20+ hours per week.
Essential Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for assisting with coordinating, and managing projects, associating new products and their production processes within the manufacturing facilities leading to their timely completion/implementation.
Daily activities:
- Assist in managing the project portfolio for implementing new products, kits, packaging, processes, and labeling initiatives with specific focus on:
- New product development in response to sales/customer demand.
- Enhancing current products’ packaging to improve presentation, performance and/or costs.
- Creating and/or modifying packing, packaging and “kitting” activities/specifics.
- Continuously provide feedback to rationalize product packaging lines.
- Monitor customer issue tracking, freight reports, warehouse accidents and product quality/longevity issues related to product packaging failures and weaknesses.
- Help with label design activities - from customer supplied drawings or specifications.
- Manage OEM label design and programming for new products as applicable.
- Help project coordinator with projects where new manufacturing techniques are involved by coordinating activities among multiple functional groups including but not limited to, purchasing, planning, manufacturing, quality, and engineering.
- Provide technical assistance to customers, prospects, and internal staff (especially for sales, production, and quality control teams).
- Assist with justification analyses for new/improved packaging, products, and equipment where capital expenses are required.
- Work with marketing, operations, EH&S, purchasing, quality control, retail sales, and division managers, to achieve division and corporate objectives.
- Provide general technical support for various product lines with respect to packaging.
- Take direction from and/or collaborate with Business Development leader, Product Managers and RAC General Manager on priorities, timetables, and expectations.
Requirements:
- Pursuing a BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Packaging/Industrial Engineering from an accredited university, preferred.
- High degree of organization, accuracy, and exceptional attention to detail.
- Effectively manage and execute numerous projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Strong MS Office application skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Project management software such as MS Project or others is a plus.
- Proficient with the English language (ability to read, write, and speak English fluently).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels internally and externally, both in writing and verbally.
- Previous experience with new product launch/development.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.
- Previous product packaging experience in an industrial chemical environment.
- Experience and/or can understand chemical/materials reactivity/incompatibility.
- Experience with bottle/closure systems, boxes, ampoules, sachets, and drums are a plus.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Understands the sections of chemicals’ SDS
