ProMach's MBF North America, a supplier of bottling and packaging equipment, is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Technician. This position is responsible for handling all details involving MBF North America customers for aftermarket parts requirements.  This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Job Requirements

Reports directly to Aftermarket Service Manager

 Essential Duties/Responsibilities of a Field Service Technician (but not limited to)

 These responsibilities are compulsory to all Field Service Technicians of all levels. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.   • Travels daily to regional customers to perform field service.
  • Accepts successive overnight stays to distant assignments involving overtime and weekend work.
  • Performs installations and extensive repair jobs may involve travel duration of multiple weeks.
  • Performs installation, commissioning, training, troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
  • Uses machine manuals to identify needed parts and communicates to local office for sourcing.
  • Provides technical guidance on complex issues.
  • Solves problems and deals with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Displays the importance of safety and quality in every aspect of the job.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with customers, management, associates, and vendors.
  • Works with vendors and suppliers to identify solutions to equipment problems and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilizes test equipment and tools (both manual & powered) to perform machine diagnosis, adjustments, and repairs.
  • Learns new technology, both mechanical and electrical.
  • Interfaces with customers to help solve product or process related issues.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.
  • Prepares service and expense reports.
  • Prepares technical audits and recommended spare parts lists.
  • Travels to Italy for Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and training.
  • Behaves as an ambassador of the company.
  • Works on internal projects at the direction of the After-Sales Service Manager.
  • Understands and constantly improves knowledge of machines sold by MBF North America. Serves as a resource to the Sales and Parts Departments.
  • Promotes the Service Department, our product line, and the company in general.
  • Produces service reports to capture a log of duties to maintain a job history and facilitate billing detail.
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities of a "Senior Field Service Technician"

 The responsibilities outlined in this section are requirements of the Senior title.

  • Trains and mentors all other technicians without prejudice for the development of the individual and the benefit of the company.
  • Acts as a resource to others in his area of expertise.
  • Consideration of scheduling and staffing of jobs are harmonized with the needs of all company activity.
  • Writes plans, collects data, and make reports for clients and department.
  • For installations, service and upgrades, understands, and accepts that as a project lead may require extended travel where consecutive weeks at sites are required.
  • Company, as a guideline, attempts to not schedule more than two consecutive weeks out, but is required in some circumstances, a few times a year may be requested.
  • Be a role model for the team in terms of coworkers, in front of customers and customers.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of the equipment sold by the company, especially rinsers, fillers, cappers, capsulers, CIP Skids and labelers.

 Minimum Job Requirements

  • Minimum completion of electronics and industrial automation vocational training.
  • High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of experience in technical customer service, maintenance, reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Clean Valid driver’s license and successful completion of background check. Must have a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability and passport to travel internationally
  • Required to work all shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to travel extensively to customers for a few days up to 3-weeks periods, as needed.
  • Travel by car and air is required.
  • Must be able to work overtime on short notice
  • 75%+/- travel to customers for installation, service calls, and preventative maintenance
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in bottling line equipment found in wineries, distilleries, or beverage production.
  • Familiar with some combinations of fillers, corkers, cappers, capsulers, and labelers
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • AC / DC electrical diagnosis ability & Profinet / Ethernet based systems
  • Ability to interface with PLC to work collaboratively with automation specialists
  • Strong written communication skills necessary to complete comprehensive service reports
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to articulate issues and understand customer needs
  • Ability to lead projects requiring organization of multiple trades
  • Cool under stressful pressures of production

Base Hourly Range: $42 - $55
