We specialize in designing, manufacturing, automating and testing power distribution equipment for OEM, mission critical, oil and gas and mining industries.  Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager we are currently seeking a Lead Industrial Painter for our Afternoon Shift to be based at our Price, UT facility.

Job Title: Lead Industrial Painter

Position Summary:  Lead responsibility for paint process to ensure projects are prepped, painted and completed within scheduled hours, complying with IE quality standards and customer/project specifications. Responsible for all safety functions and procedures in paint area. Responsible to train and mentor Painter Helpers. 


Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 1:30 am


Essential Functions. Other Duties as Assigned

 

Paint Process Oversight

  1. Reviews project/paint requirements to verify conformance to specifications
  2. Directs prep work and paint/equipment setup; Maintains paint booth and related equipment
  3. Leads safety efforts in paint area; Enforces safety regulations; Reads, understands and follows all MSDS information for products being used in paint area
  4. Recommends processes/procedures to improve painting methods and equipment utilization
  5. Analyzes work/paint problems and elevates situation to the appropriate supervisor/manager
  6. Initiates or suggests plans to improve and motivate workers to achieve work goals
  7. Maintains attendance and paint production data
  8. Confers with personnel in other work areas in order to coordinate activities in paint/production
  9. Trains new painters assigned to the paint area to ensure safety, quality, and paint requirements are understood and followed
  10. Responsible for quantity and quality of painted work produced in paint area 

 

Paint Preparation

  1. Removes paint and finishes; prepares surfaces for application of paint, other finishes, or specialized surfaces, coverings or coatings.
  2. Finishes, patches and repairs surfaces as needed, including emergency repairs
  3. Sand-blast items, components, buildings to be painted
  4. Wash, clean all surfaces
  5. Mask, prep, buildings, parts, skids

 

Paint

  1. Identifies characteristics of surfaces to be coated and ensures proper preparation and application of coating
  2. Mixes and matches paints, and other finishes; prepares materials and equipment used for a variety of applications
  3. Applies various coatings including epoxy’s, enamels, urethanes, paints, varnishes, stains lacquers to a variety of surfaces using high volume, low pressure airless, and conventional paint equipment
  4. Checks for quality during the course of a job to ensure coating is applied according to specifications and to reduce re-work

 

Equipment/Safety

  1. Operates a variety of power and hand tools and equipment, including applicators, sandblasting and pressure washing equipment
  2. Maintains painting equipment such as hoses, pumps, and pressure tanks, spray guns, paint booth, etc.
  3. Wears appropriate personal protective equipment as indicated by the assignment. This may include head socks, respirators, protective disposable suits, face shields, gloves and the like.

  1. Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, shows up to work on time
  2. Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of IE’s safety rules, policies, and procedures; Maintain clean work area at all times

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Qualifications:

  • Two years’ experience as an industrial painter is preferred
  • One year supervisory or lead experience
  • One year training or education in painting at a recognized trade school or apprenticeship program preferred
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures of the painting trade
  • Proper work preparation and care of industrial painting equipment and apparatus
  • Ability to determine painting needs and methods to meet them
  • Read and implement painting blueprints/traveler plan specifications
  • Use various painting equipment and apparatus
  • Match paint colors and types
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Work at heights up to 40 feet
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a pulmonary functions test
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment
  • Follows IE’s safety standards and programs
