Description
The Intern will work to gain hands-on experience at United Insurance from mid-May through mid-August. As an Intern you will learn industry-specific skills through training and mentorship. The Intern will gain practical experience while assisting with tasks and projects and participating in meetings and client interactions. The intern will provide a presentation of their learnings and project work to the Executive Leadership Team during their final week. United Insurance will provide the Intern with training, resume advice, professional headshots, and professional behavior in the business world setting to set the student up for success. The intern will gain college credit upon completion*. Location to be determined.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop experience in the EPIC agency management system.
- Work closely with the Property & Casualty team, Employee Benefits team, and Financial Services to learn best practices and strategies.
- Utilize desktop applications such as MS Office (Excel, Word, Exchange).
- Attend meetings.
- Participate in outreach efforts, including prospecting and client calls.
- Become knowledgeable in different insurance coverages and grow both personally and professionally.
- Engage in company events and networking opportunities.
- Provide excellent service as needed for our customers, carriers, and team members.
- Complete project work and other assignments as requested.
- Prepare and present final presentation to leadership.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field. Or recently graduated.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Interests in finance, sales, employee benefits, and the insurance industry.
- Excellent customer relationship skills
- Positive, friendly, and professional attitude
