POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a combined position that will focus on Licensed Electrician duties, but also be responsible for assisting with facilities maintenance beyond electrical. The Electrician duties include installing and maintaining the electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in all buildings on the Fort Collins campus. The facilities maintenance technician performs basic inspection, repairs, installation and maintenance on buildings electrical, plumbing, HVAC or phone/data infrastructure equipment. Responsibilities include providing in-house customer support for facility related work orders regarding electrical, plumbing, HVAC, phone/data, or office furniture reconfigurations. Performs necessary clerical duties associated with job. This position requires knowledge in the procedures and safety measures applicable in all areas of job requirements including knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the facility maintenance field. The person in this position will rely on instructions and pre-established departmental guidelines to perform the functions of the job and will work under immediate supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings. Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables.
- Ensures piping complies with electrical codes.
- Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
- Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building.
- Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Replaces conduit, wiring, and circuit breakers as needed.
- Performs basic repairs, inspection, installation, and maintenance on electrical, plumbing, phone/data, or HVAC systems.
- Assembles, reconfigures, and/or moves office furniture systems, production floor work benches, and other equipment.
- Orders the appropriate parts/supplies necessary to properly and accurately complete maintenance projects.
- Performs general maintenance tasks such as keying doors, hanging white boards, patching, and painting walls, replacing floor tiles, and sidewalk snow removal.
- Operates multiple hand and power tools.
- Performs general building maintenance.
- Contacts vendors as needed and obtains quotes.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Location: Fort Collins, Colorado
- Environment: Office setting, labs, clean rooms, manufacturing facility
- Weekend work and overtime may be necessary at times. Work in various outdoor conditions including cold, heat, rain, or snow
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read blueprints
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- General maintenance knowledge
- Must be customer-oriented with the goal of customer satisfaction
- Ability to take direction and perform quality, thorough work, independently
- Ability to lift/carry/move heavy objects including furniture, machinery, and other equipment
- Ability to crouch, bend, and twist while working
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Auto CAD experience a plus
- Knowledge of NFPA article 70
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three years’ relevant experience.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship and valid electrician’s license required.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $35 to $45 per hour.
